Q. How is the UC Irvine Weight Management Program different from other diet programs? A. We believe long term weight management requires a commitment to a healthy lifestyle that continues after initial weight loss. Our program was established in 1987 and has a track record of helping people keep weight off. Our focus is not just on the number of pounds lost but also on risk factor reduction than occurs with improved management of blood pressure, glucose levels, and cholesterol. Our staff including physicians, dietitians, exercise physiologists, and registered nurses provides a multi-disciplinary approach to develop the skills necessary for long term weight and health management.
